Los Angeles is still struggling with street takeovers

The City of Los Angeles is struggling lately on many fronts.

Add illegal street takeovers to that long list.

According to figures provided by the LAPD, illegal street takeovers in Los Angeles are up for the first half of 2024.

LAPD says that over 176 street takeovers, also known as “side shows”, took place in the City of Los Angeles between January and March of this year. LAPD says social media is a driving factor in attracting large crowds to illegal street takeovers.

Many Angelenos are frustrated with the lack of deterrence and other solutions to this growing and dangerous problem. Officials advise the public that if you’re stuck in an illegal street takeover, DO NOT GET OUT OF YOUR CAR.

If you or someone you know were injured in a Los Angeles street takeover, you should talk to an attorney knowledgeable about car accidents and street takeovers.
