Los Angeles is #1 in the country for mail carrier dog bites

Did you know that this week is the United States Postal Service’s National Dog Bite Awareness Week?

Every year, the U.S.P.S. releases dog bite statistics. Last year, postal workers suffered 5,800 dog bites across the country.

Do you know which City was #1 on the list?

Yep, it’s Los Angeles. Postal workers were bitten by dogs 65 times in Los Angeles in 2023.

As we discussed last year, California overall was the number one state for dog bites the year before.

You can read the national statistics and rankings here.

The U.S.P.S.’s motto this week is “don’t bite the hand that serves you.” Customers are encouraged to exercise responsible dog ownership to help prevent dog bite attacks against letter carriers.

As always, if you or someone you know suffered a Los Angeles dog bite attack or injury, whether you’re a letter carrier, postal service employee, or a citizen going for a morning walk, reach out to an experienced dog bite lawyer to discuss your case.
