Marijuana Law for CA Drivers Effective January 1st!

My office has been getting a lot of questions about the upcoming marijuana law applicable to California drivers. Here's what you need to know.Effective January 1st, California drivers and passengers are forbidden from smoking or ingesting any marijuana product while in a vehicle.  It's that simple! But hasn't it always been illegal to smoke marijuana while driving? The answer is yes.  But since California voters passed the recreational use of marijuana law in 2016, the State Legislature amended the Vehicle Code to specifically outlaw the use of this recreational drug while driving or seated as a passenger.  No wiggle room!We are not advocated or endorsing the use of marijuana! But if someone is going to ingest it, be safe.Don't drive a car while under the influence of any alcoholic beverage or drugs.  They could lead to serious injuries or worse, God forbid. You can read about new laws affecting California motorists in 2018 here. For questions about your case, the Rabbi Lawyer is ready to assist, 24/6, in the new year and beyond!!
