LAPD Releases Alarming DUI Stats
The Los Angeles Police Department recently released its report detailing DUI statistics within the City of Los Angeles.
The report is not looking good.
It mirrors a national trend, as recently reported in the Wall Street Journal.
According to the WSJ, DUI deaths in 2022 were the highest at any time since 2006. Over 13,000 people died from DUI-related incidents in this country in 2022. That number was 33% above the 2019 numbers.
According to experts, drivers who have been caught in the past driving under the influence are often repeat offenders. Police departments across the country argue that lax prosecutions enable repeat offenders. Many officers believe “what’s the point?” in enforcing the DUI laws when the driver will just be out on the street again next week.
As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, I have experience with representing clients who were injured by drunk drivers. I recently discussed one such case here.
If you or someone you know were injured by a drunk driver anywhere in Southern California, my office is just one phone call away.
I’m ready to assist, 24/6.
