New Driving Laws for 2020

The California Highway Patrol released a list of new laws affecting California motorists in 2020. Some of these laws pertain to both drivers and bicyclists.

Bicyclists in California will now be permitted to travel straight through an intersection from a turning lane. The Assembly Bill, which was signed into law by Governor Newsom in September, will amend Vehicle Code Section 22101(e)(1) to read:

California Sues Juul

This week California filed a lawsuit against Juul. The lawsuit is being brought by California Attorney General Xavier Becerra and Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey, among other plaintiffs. The suit accuses Juul of deceptive marketing practices and knowingly selling its e-cigarettes to underage users.

The lawsuit, filed in Alameda County Superior Court, also claims that Juul failed to give warnings about its product's chemical exposure and the risks of cancer, birth defects, and reproductive harm.
