2020 Is In the Books!

Happy New Year!! I think we can all agree that we are all ready to turn the page on 2020. It was a difficult year on many fronts.

Notwithstanding the hardships of 2020, I am incredibly thankful to all my clients who placed their trust in me over the past year. We signed up multiple new cases, and we settled several cases throughout the year. These included several policy limits settlements for very well-deserving clients. Let me share one case story with you to illustrate the success we had.

My client was driving in Los Angeles one weekend afternoon in May. She was stopped at a stop sign, waiting for her turn to proceed through the intersection. All of a sudden, and out of nowhere, her car was slammed from behind. She realized she’d been rear-ended.

She stepped out of the car and realized that this was a three-car collision, not a two-car collision. Car 1 hit Car 2, which in turn caused Car 2 to slam into my client in Car 3. Car 1 had been speeding and could not come to a stop in time. The speed of the collision totaled both Cars 2 and 3.

My client suffered serious back and knee injuries. The force of the collision caused her knee to jolt and twist awkwardly. She ended up needing surgery to repair her meniscus. This surgery is known as a meniscectomy. The surgery went well, and after a couple of months, my client, who is an amateur dancer, was back on her feet.

We attempted to resolve the matter with Car 1’s insurance company. They found all sorts of reasons to delay and question whether my client’s injuries were in fact related to this collision. They claimed that because she was a dancer, the only plausible explanation for her knee injury was her dancing history, and not getting rear-ended at 50 miles per hour. They were wrong.

My office filed a lawsuit against the driver of Car 1 and began to litigate the case. Shortly after filing the lawsuit, my office received a call from the new insurance adjuster assigned to the case. He admitted that the first adjuster had completely read this case wrong, and he offered us the policy limits right then and there. Our strategy had worked, and Car 1’s insurance company acquiesced to our efforts. We settled the case for the six-figure policy limits, and my client could move on from this horrible ordeal.

Insurance companies often get things wrong. They have one goal in mind: to not pay injured people what they are rightfully owed. I am proud to say I didn’t let insurance companies do this to my clients in 2020, and I certainly won’t allow it in 2021. The chutzpah stops here!!

Please do not hesitate to reach out for answers to your questions about your Los Angeles or Orange County car accident or slip and fall case in 2021 and beyond. We are ready to assist, 24/6.

Happy New Year!! May 2021 bring you and your families renewed blessings of good health, success, and prosperity.

Sincerely,

Michael Rubinstein, Rabbi Lawyer
