Sharing the Road With Los Angeles Bicyclists

Too many bicyclists are hurt each year in California in avoidable collisions.According to the DMV, over 100 bicyclists are killed in California each year.  That's 100 too many.Unfortunately, Los Angeles bicyclists are at risk for collisions with cars.  Many factors contribute, including traffic and less bike lanes.Across the country, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reports that 2% of collisions involving a death involved a bicyclist.Here are a few safety tip reminders for bicyclists and drivers in Los Angeles:1. Make sure your helmet fits.2. Ride to the ride of traffic.  BUT NOTE: A cyclist may take up an entire lane if traffic and roadway conditions call for it.Drivers: Don't indulge in road rage!  Be patient and don't do anything brash that you'll regret.  If passing a cyclist, give three feet of clearance.No 3 feet= no passing!3. Stay visible.
