California Passes Temporary License Plate Law
There's good news coming for California drivers. On Monday, Governor Jerry Brown signed a law that will require new cars to carry temporary license plates from the moment they leave the lot. The new law will take effect in 2019.The law is intended to assist law enforcement with identifying cars on the road. It can take weeks for a new car to receive a permanent license plate, and in the interim, it can be difficult for police to identify them. The law should have an added benefit: helping police and the public identify cars involved in hit-and-runs.Hit-and-runs are a serious problem in Los Angeles.
