Safety Tips for Pedestrians at Night

The Los Angeles legal community suffered a great loss last night.I'm not talking about the death of Justice Scalia, although we mourn his passing too.I'm talking about the tragic death of a local judge, the Honorable Daniel Brenner.Judge Brenner was killed last night while crossing the street in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood of Los Angeles.  According to the LAPD, the Judge was not in the crosswalk when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. As a Los Angeles pedestrian accident lawyer, I've discussed pedestrian safety many times.  You can recent posts on this topic here, and here. Here are some other pedestrian safety tips for nighttime walking.1. Cross at the crosswalk.  Most of the following safety tips include a variation of this one.  Don't chance it.2. Light-it-up.  Consider wearing a reflector vest.  If you can't see yourself in one of those, keep your iPhone handy and use the flashlight function to signal to motorists that you're there.  If walking your dog, use a collar that lights up for your pooch.3. Err on the side of caution.  Don't jaywalk.  Don't chance running across a busy intersection thinking you will outrun those cars fast approaching.  When it's car versus pedestrian, car always wins.Lets hope we can avoid tragedies like the one that claimed Judge Brenner.  May his family find comfort. For questions about your Pico-Robertson Los Angeles pedestrian accident case, the Rabbi Lawyer is ready to assist, 24/6.
