How Long Do I Have to Wait for that Pedestrian to Cross!?

This is a question I get a lot. You're stopped at a green light, waiting to turn right, and you don't know how long you're supposed to wait to allow the pedestrian to cross.Do you wait until the pedestrian has fully cleared the intersection or crosswalk, or is it enough to simply yield and begin to turn once the pedestrian is out of harm's way?Great questions, but unfortunately, there's no clear answer! The Vehicle Code grants pedestrians the right-of-way at a marked crosswalk, unmarked crosswalk, and at an intersection. While the Code grants pedestrians the right-of-way, it does not say how long a driver should wait for the pedestrian to cross. While there is no clear answer to this pressing question, we can all probably agree on what is not considered safe.Make sure you give the pedestrian enough room to cross, and always yield the right-of-way.For questions about your Los Angeles car or pedestrian accident case, the Rabbi Lawyer is ready to assist, 24/6!
