Using Your Phone To Prove You Carry Auto Insurance

Once in a while, I'll get a panicked phone call from a new client who was in an accident, and mistakenly believes he doesn't have auto insurance. Why might he think this?  Because after fishing through his glove box and finding discarded potato chip bags and gum wrappers, he simply can't find his auto insurance card.Worry no more!  That's because California now allows drivers to show proof of insurance on their smart phones and mobile devices! So next time you fish through your cluttered glove compartment and only find your auto accident checklist but no insurance card, remember that you can show a police officer or another driver proof of your insurance on your cell phone. Most companies have downloadable apps that allow you to pull up your policy information in the event of an accident.  Check the app store or call your insurance company for more information.Of course, this assumes that you actually do have insurance.  Always make sure your car is properly insured and your premiums are all paid up to avoid any unpleasant surprises in the future. For questions about your case, the Rabbi Lawyer is one phone call away.
