Actor's Car Was Recalled Prior to Fatal Accident

Anton Yelchin’s Jeep was the subject of a nationwide recall by Fiat Chrysler, Fox News reports.

The actor, known for his recent role as Pavel Chekov in the Star Trek reboot films, was killed in a terrible accident in his own driveway Sunday.

His Jeep rolled back, crushing him against the brick mailbox at the entrance to his uphill driveway.  Authorities believe that Mr. Yelchin’s Jeep was mistakenly in neutral, instead of park.

Fox News reports further that 1.1 million Fiat-Chryslers were recalled to repair the transmission design flaw that might’ve been responsible for this tragedy.

Recalled vehicles are a serious issue in the United States.

They have been brought to light more recently with the Takata Airbag issues and GM’s defective ignition switches that killed several people.

The issue is so serious that rental car companies are now prohibited from renting out recalled vehicles to consumers.

If you receive a recall from your automobile manufacturer, follow up and take care of it as soon as you can.
