Yesterday, a Carmax salesman was killed in a terrible tragedy in nearby Ontario, California.
According to the Ontario Police Department, the salesman was a passenger in a speeding red Corvette driven by Alex Demetro. Witnesses reported that the speeding Corvette slammed into a tree during a test drive. Demetro has since been arrested for vehicular manslaughter.
Police say that Demetro was under the influence of drugs when he crashed the Corvette. Whether this is true or not, it does raise a very important issue.
Many people know that driving under the influence of alcohol is illegal. What many don’t know is that it’s also illegal to drive while under the influence of drugs. In the eyes of the law, drugged driving is the same as drunk driving.
